MOMO Coffee is an urban beacon in Condesa: a small space that establishes a bold, recognisable spatial identity from a distance. Located on a busy street, amid a continuous sequence of shops, the project stands out as a recognisable landmark that invites visitors to immerse themselves in light.
The space, in light and desaturated tones, recalls a capsule. The horizontal facade acts as a lintel that frames the interior, presenting the space as a lighttoned box of clean, parallel lines, defined by just a few elements. Concrete walls with paste finishes and a concrete floor form a continuous base for the furniture, reduced to elemental forms and interrupted by gentle curves that contrast with the box’s right angles.
The furniture is concentrated along the sides, freeing the centre. At the rear, the counter becomes the space’s primary visual endpoint. Built in stainless steel, the counter reflects and multiplies the light; its surface creates a gradient of luminosity and glints that travel across the space. To one side, a secondary counter organises the services and conceals access to the restroom. On a side wall, the brand’s coffee bags are suspended from stainless-steel fittings, introducing a graphic and playful gesture into a space that finds its character in emptiness.
During the day, natural light reveals the essential geometry of the box and the relationships between its planes, materials and objects. The void prepares the space to receive one of MOMO’s most iconic and unexpected visitors: the intense orange light that, as night falls, transforms its interior. A continuous light screen envelops the space, altering the perception of its boundaries and translating the brand’s identity into an immersive spatial experience.
DRAWING
The light reduces the contrast between light and shadow and blurs the boundaries between walls, floor and furniture. The angles of the capsule soften and the planes seem to extend. The intensity of the orange finds a counterpoint in the simplicity of concrete and steel. Differences between colours, textures and materials merge within a single atmosphere, while the colour maintains its presence without competing with the space.
MOMO Coffee Condesa transforms a small-scale space through an experience that extends between interior and exterior. Towards the street, the facade becomes an illuminated plane visible along the street; inside, that same light creates a warm, calm and comforting atmosphere. The project establishes a recognisable identity through colour and light, one capable of standing out in the city and remaining in the memory
