Project Name： GOOD OPTICAL EYEWEAR
Architecture Firm：Soar Design Studio
Description from architect Soar Design Studio:
We imagine a shopping space where there is no pressure but only comfort to see and feel. We expect users can capture a sense of serenity and nature as if they are in a forest cottage, surrounded by mother earth. The essence of commercial space is brought back to human interactions, without unnecessary design, so that people can focus on one another in a pleasant and relaxing environment.
The multi-layer design sets the space into different levels. The lower public space features product selections, optometric services, etc., while the upper space is half private and private, ready for office space, meeting room, or special exhibition. To connect the two levels of space, we leverage vertical elements such as see-through decoration and trees. The plants outside and transparent materials send hints of nature, and people would feel being outdoor albeit staying inside. We also place several random seats where people can sit down and find peace of mind as they make shopping decisions.
For materials, we prefer the quality, texture and warmth of solid wood. We stack them up in a rustic, direct and simple manner, perfect for the showroom walls and multi-layered floor. People can feel and touch these materials, which are arranged in simple and logical order, as they enjoy deeper sense of original nature. The wood, with natural strength and warmth, and the stable concrete, are in juxtaposition with the crevices in the stacks and transparent glasses, creating a sharp contrast of void and valid. We also leverage different colorless layers to highlight the complex steel structure and steel ladders, in harmony with the wood, presenting a curated scene of calm and minimalism.
