Project description from design firms Yaro Buro
On the eighth floor of the new Viking Park residential complex in Lviv, the Yaro Bureau team designed an interior where every square meter enhances the feeling of space, light, and tranquility. The clients—a well-traveled couple—dreamed of a home that could rival the world’s finest resorts in both comfort and atmosphere.
“The clients wanted to avoid any sense of contrast when returning from a trip,” the designers explain. “Instead, they wanted their apartment to feel like a place even better than a vacation.”
The original two-room layout, with its dark, windowless hallway, didn’t align with this vision. The architects reimagined the space, removing most of the partitions and preserving only the bedroom and two bathrooms. The rest was transformed into a bright, open-plan kitchen and living area.
“We wanted to open up the layout as much as possible,” say the designers. “So we created a multifunctional shared space that feels flexible and alive.”
Because the homeowners love to cook, the kitchen required a large and highly functional work surface. Designed in an island format, it features Italian Breccia Pernice marble. Veneered fronts are paired with painted MDF in the same tone as the walls, allowing the kitchen to visually “dissolve” into the interior and leave the marble island as the main focal point. The absence of upper cabinets and the use of minimalist stainless-steel shelves add to the sense of lightness, while all essentials are neatly hidden in a large storage unit.
The living room serves as the heart of the apartment. A spacious sofa sits across the boundary between parquet and microcement flooring, emphasizing the zoning. A graphite-tinted glass partition separating the bedroom adds depth and creates soft, ambient light.
The dining area comfortably seats six and is centered around two Vibia pendant lights.

“It was important for us to install these large chandeliers—we stood by this decision,” recalls Yaro Bureau. “Their scale brings a sense of theatricality. In the evening, when the lights are dimmed, they create a cozy, intimate atmosphere.”
One of the apartment’s highlights is the bathroom with an open tropical shower—an idea the clients brought home from their travels in Asia. All surfaces, including the ceiling, are finished with sand-toned microcement, evoking natural textures. The second bathroom features a travertine stone sink—a timeless material that adds a sense of elegance. It has become the owner’s favorite element.
The bedroom is serene and minimalist, decorated in a warm monochromatic palette. Beside the bed stands a custom-designed table by Yaro Bureau, crafted from wood and leftover travertine from the bathroom. A terracotta pendant lamp provides soft, focused light.
Throughout the apartment, natural materials prevail: warm wood, microcement, travertine, and textiles in earthy tones. Wooden wall panels and textured plaster add depth, while tall doors visually expand the space.
“We intentionally avoided decorative excess,” concludes Yaro Bureau. “We wanted the interior to be about feeling—not effect.”
