In this project, in addition to the requirement of creating a clean and tidy living space, we have tried to renovate the layout of the apartment to give the owner a better living space, in accordance with the needs of each family member.
The apartment used to have a large space for the dining and living area from the entrance hall to the main balcony. The kitchen and 4 bedrooms are divided into two sides that are connected to the main space by small corridors. But with that layout we feel the isolation among family members, the parent’s view of the children and interaction between the spaces are limited.
We started the change by removing small corridors on either side of the main space. Next, we decided to create an open space with the center is the dining and living area. The two enclosed bedrooms surrounded by wooden walls throughout, connected with the outside space by a hidden door system.
We made the bedrooms for children and the kitchen open, to increase the observation of parents. And to match the children’s taste, we choose a bunk bed with 2 revolving doors that are made of metal material and glass.
The kitchen is also surrounded by a flexible sliding door system.
This design create the feeling that the private area is integrated into the common area, all interactions between spaces are expressed as there is no division.
Plus, the main choice of materials is light wood, gray paint, mixed with the red-orange color of the metal that create a sense of spacious and softer.
We want to provide an optimal solution to improve the living space of typical apartments in Vietnam today, creating a flexible living environment, increase connection with family members.
