Project description from design firms Q&A Studio
With meticulous attention to detail and a profound respect for the building’s history, Q&A Studio transformed this residential space into a sophisticated and fresh environment, tailoring the interior design to the young couple who will live it.
Welcome to a contemporary incarnation of art deco elegance.
The apartment, situated in an art deco building in Turin historical city centre was designed for the contemporary living of a young couple working in fashion industry.
Our design strategy focused on preserving and enhancing the building’s original structure, including the oak floors and ceilings adorned with art deco stucco. At the same time, we introduced contemporary interventions that seamlessly integrate with the spirit of the era.
The entrance of the apartment is characterized by a new custom-made black closet which is both visually and phisically connected with the kitchen, ideally introducing the living and dining area. Here we can find a number of large mirrors to enlarge and light up the space.
Displays are another important feature of this apartment, created specifically to show a collection of design objects ranging from the 20s to the 70s. All around the apartment from the living, to the corridor, to the bedroos we can find niches and shelves that have been designed and installed in order to host and display the clients’ personal design collection, making ceiling and connecting spaces also functional.
The centerpiece of the day area is the multifunctional black cube that serves as a kitchen and entrance, equipped with generous storage to meet our clients’ practical daily needs.
Green-toned wall tiles and graniglia flooring declare the main interior design interventions, giving the environment a calm and classy feeling. In particular, the main bathroom, thanks to the green color of the tiles together with the custom-made boiserie, imbues the space with a timeless and chic atmosphere. The original wooden floor parquet adds a touch of natural warmth to the ensemble.
The result is an elegant and functional environment tailored to the needs of a young couple, reflecting their personality and showcasing their design collection.
