Project description from design firms Planka Buro
The interior combines the elegance of Art Deco, the functionality of minimalism, and elements of contemporary classics. The finishing materials include brass, stone, and natural wood. The primary focus was achieving a balance between luxury and restraint.
The 117 m² apartment was created by merging two separate units, requiring meticulous planning. With eight windows, six wet zones, load-bearing walls, and a ventilation shaft between the original apartments, standard solutions were not an option. The team explored 20 different layout variations to accommodate the clients’ wishes while adhering to all construction regulations.
As a result, the space was divided into three main zones: a communal area with a kitchen-living room, a master suite with a private bedroom, and a children’s section. The clients requested a separate workspace for the children, which currently serves as a guest room but will later become one of the children’s bedrooms. The furniture arrangement was planned to ensure an easy transformation into a children’s room in the future.
The interior features a refined yet understated color palette, including ivory shades, chocolate tones, warm beige, and natural wood. The balance between luxury and minimalism is achieved through a combination of brass, stone, veneer, and textiles. Statement elements such as a glass column with a steam fireplace, intricately milled furniture facades, and a porcelain stoneware floor panel add unique character to the space.
One of the key challenges was integrating aesthetics with well-thought-out engineering solutions. For instance, the living room features a hidden TV zone within the glass column, incorporating a floating fireplace.
This project is an example of how to create a sophisticated yet practical interior that remains timeless and functional for years to come.
