Project description from design firms élément de base
The redevelopment of the offices of Cossette, the Quebec City-based creative marketing and communications agency, is a collection of spaces that encourage a variety of opportunities for meetings and collaboration. This minimalist, thoughtful approach results in several distinct workspaces, as well as a central area overlooking the neighboring park. Through the images of architectural photographer Maxime Brouillet, these reimagined offices are revealed.
The central area, the heart of this redevelopment project, is surrounded by three workspaces in the form of closed cubicles, or small houses, characterized by a color palette ranging from soft, neutral tones, to cobalt blue. The different workspaces have been designed to offer employees varying levels of privacy according to their needs.
Celebrating the ordinary – a simple expression, but one that underlines architect Jérôme Lapierre’s intention to reveal the beauty in the elements that surround us. With suspended lighting, concrete columns, and exposed air ducts, material and visual simplicity reign in the space. The use of natural wood is a recurring element, visible on the interior facades of the cubicles, as well as on the central tables, which serve as a gathering place.
In the common area, Cossette opted for élément de base furniture to provide its team with a pleasant working and relaxation space. Two collections with very different characters and comforts were selected: Panorama 2p modules in light grey bouclé offer upright, supportive comfort. A flagship collection in commercial settings. Then there are the Super-Pause oak chairs, upholstered in the same fabric, offering softness and relaxation.
The customizable nature of élément de base’s products enabled Cossette to match its choice of furniture to the décor with ease: the light grey bouclé slipcovers blend in with the surrounding tones, while the solid oak structures of the Super-Pause chairs echo the natural wood theme present throughout the space. The removable slipcover systems, found on all edb products, allow customers to refresh and personalize their sofa as needed.
Jérôme Lapierre architecte is recognized for his work that expresses a delicate response to architecture and landscape, whatever the scale. Jérôme and his team work with a diverse selection of projects and clients, including residential, institutional, commercial, and urban planning. The studio’s approach is based on a balance between great rationality and an insistence on maintaining a sensitive, experimental approach. To this end, their projects are both pragmatic and poetic. Each of them seeks to highlight the potential of materials in relation to their context, and to make them implicitly visible in order to reveal the meaning of their constructions.
