Project description from design firms Planka Buro
The new project of the Planka design bureau is a laconic apartment filled with rich coffee tones and shades of natural wood.
The clients had a pretty good idea of what their ideal home should be like; the project was created taking into account the wishes of all family members. For example, the head of the family needed an office where he could retire, and a sports corner with a horizontal bar and a rowing machine, and the hostess asked to find a place for a large number of plants, a sewing table and a cabinet for sewing accessories.
The overall goal was to create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation, communication and hobbies. The clients wanted to see natural textures and mirror surfaces, an abundance of light and air in the interior. The layout is hinged, dictated by the shape of the apartment – you can move in any direction from the hallway. In the central part there is a spacious kitchen-living room, which we tried to make equally comfortable for cooking, receiving guests and relaxing with the family. The task was complicated by a monolithic column separating the living space from the corridor. An electric fireplace, which was among the wishes of the customers, helped to play it up.

We also had to fit a massive cube of the guest bathroom into the interior without disturbing the feeling of spaciousness and lightness. To do this, we used a tinted mirror, carefully selecting shades to achieve an ideal combination with a hidden door. This solution allowed us to dissolve the cube in space and visually expand the boundaries of the kitchen-living room.
In addition, the complexity was the implementation of the island in the kitchen, faced with large-format porcelain stoneware. This element required the coordination of the efforts of many contractors – from designers and technologists to specialists in stone processing and furniture assembly. One of the most interesting interior items was the dining table, made according to individual sketches. Particular attention was paid to the design of the legs, which became the subject of heated design debates. It was necessary to maintain a balance between elegance and stability. The solution – visually light, angular legs in the high-tech style – came almost by accident, but eventually became an important accent in the interior.
