Project description from design firms Unode Estudio
Set within a residential area of Las Rozas, on the outskirts of Madrid, House Among Holm Oaks occupies a plot densely populated with native trees. The project establishes a measured dialogue between architecture and landscape, balancing presence and discretion.
The house is positioned at the optimal point of the site, adapting to its topography to secure distant views towards Madrid while ensuring privacy. Interior spaces and outdoor areas unfold on a single level, enabling a seamless relationship between living spaces, porches, terraces and garden.
Conceived as a folded volume, the building progressively opens towards the south. A series of articulated folds shape the façade, guiding interior circulation and orienting rooms towards the landscape. These gestures also act as passive environmental devices, controlling solar exposure and enhancing thermal comfort.

At its core, a double-height living and dining space functions as the social heart of the house. Large glazed surfaces dissolve the boundary between inside and outside, allowing vegetation and natural light to permeate the interior. Bedrooms are arranged on the upper level, connected by a walkway that bridges the central void, while service areas and garage occupy the basement.
Natural stone, expansive glazing and a ventilated metallic envelope define the material expression of the project. Together, these elements create a contemporary yet restrained architecture, deeply rooted in its setting and designed for long-term environmental performance.
About Unode Estudio
Founded in Madrid in 2013, Unode Estudio is an architecture and interior design practice that approaches each commission as a site-specific response rooted in context and human experience. Rather than pursuing a predetermined formal language, the studio develops tailored solutions that emerge from careful observation, dialogue and material precision.
Working across a wide range of scales—from single-family houses to commercial interiors and complex refurbishments—Unode understands architecture as a synthesis of place, function and atmosphere. Each project begins with an in-depth analysis of its physical and cultural surroundings, combined with a close reading of the client’s way of living or working. The result is architecture that feels both grounded and personal.
The studio’s methodology is defined by rigor and continuity throughout all stages of the process, from concept development to construction. Attention to detail, material coherence and spatial clarity are central to its work, alongside a strong commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency and long-term durability.
Led by architects Eduardo Guadamillas and Luz Sempere, and supported by a multidisciplinary team, Unode Estudio delivers comprehensive project management, ensuring consistency between design intent and built reality.
